Seminar Registrations

Effective January 2023 registration for the Montgomery County Department of Housing and Community Affairs (DHCA). There will not be any MPDU Orientation & First Time Home Buyer seminars in January 2023. Please go to DHCA’s website: www.montgomerycountymd.gov. They will provide further information in January on when they will resume classes.

This schedule shows the schedule for First-Time Home-Buyer (FTHB) seminars for the moderately-priced dwelling unit program for new buyers.  This is a free seminar. HCI recommends first time buyers take the FTHB class first, and then the MPDU orientation, if the home buyer intends to apply for the MPDU program.

Important: Home buyers who want to participate in the MPDU program must take both the First-Time Home-Buyer (FTHB) seminar and MPDU orientation seminar. Home buyers who do not plan to participate in the MPDU program only need to take the first-time home-buyer (FTHB) seminar.

Registration for the FTHB seminar will close:
When the number of registrants reach the zoom capacity limit. People who are not registered will not be allowed to attend.

Only one member of the household need to take the FTHB seminar, but HCI encourages as many members of the household to attend as possible.

CLASS LOCATION:
All seminars are held electronically via zoom.

HCI endeavors to start the seminars on time. Please contact the office of Housing & Community Initiatives (301-590-2765) if you have not received the zoom link three (3) days before the seminar begins. Also check your junk or spam and do a search in your inbox for HCII.org.

The first-time home-buyer (FTHB) seminars are taught by experienced Realtors, Loan Officers and Settlement Attorneys. The classes are 2.5 to 3 hours long.

The FTHB seminar covers:

  • Getting ready – financial fitness for homeownership

  • Obtaining financing – the loan application process

  • Selecting the home, contracting for sale, due diligence

  • Getting to the settlement table and beyond

Each registered student Must use a separate email address, unless you are a family or individuals purchasing together.

Please use your legal name as you register for the First Time Home Buyer Seminar. Your Legal name is also required when you register for the MPDU seminar. “Do not use a Hotmail email address when you register.”
